Tinas Travels on the North Highland Way

My partner, Brian Sparks, and I bought the beautiful property, Windhaven, in March 2000.  We had been going through the paperwork since December, but that was OK.  Until the then owner, John Eden, phoned to say that we were only buying the house, not the land and stables.  I told him that the deal was off then.

What followed was a journey learning about the culture of the far north and the specifics of Dunnet Head in terms of geography, history, archaeology, geology and wildlife.  Then there were the activities – cycling, walking, horse riding – of which I was a particular fan.  I had a beautiful old horse, Richard, who I brought with me with great trepidation from Kent.  He hated the wind and the sea.. coming originally from Ireland as a four year old, he was by far the best horse I ever had.

Stop press

I have recently (August 2018) had an article published on Get Outside and the winter one is now out.  There is a horsey one planned for the spring of 2019.
