Portadown is a lively little town, conveniently placed between Dublin and Belfast. There is a lot going on. Richard Edgar, the local historian, has written a very interesting account of Dr Isobel Tate. He is a mine of information and wisdom.
The tow path on the Portadown to Newry Canal is great for walking and cycling.
Portadown will be the home for the Spanish Summer School in the first week of June 2019. We had one last year in Carrickfergus. It was great. Join the Hispanic Society of Carrickfergus and get discounts.
Meanwhile, the sculptress, Anne Acheson, from Portadown and who invented the plaster of Paris, was in the news again during week commencing 6th November.
Meanwhile, we have found a Spanish link. Some of the Irish fusiliers fought in the Battle of Barrosa.
Meanwhile, while we are waiting for Richard, we certainly know how to party in Portadown. We had a fab Halloween party on 30th October… so keen we were to dress up and party. This is yours truly and Elaine who is Community Champion for Asda.
What a hoot!
