Scotland’s Independence

We can prove it can’t be when the Highlands and Islands Enterprise want everything for free and the Highland Council write inward investors rude letters.

We have asked where the law is that someone bringing a project to the table can’t benefit from it… watch this space in 2019..

But it’s Christmas… let’s let them off… for now…

Joint working – not on your life!

Now the Highland Council tourism officer says he doesn’t know what sustainable tourism is yet there is a whole committee dedicated to it… Mmm…

The political news desk has moved and the Labour party and two activists are looking after it.

We are very concerned about the environment, so we have launched the Write Way of doing things. It gets worse… And now Dounreay are involved with promoting the space rocket but wouldn’t give any money to the North Highland Way project, even though it was eligible.  They wouldn’t even give money so that walkers could get off the road and walk around their facility.  We found a track, but no, let LetsGoNorth do all the work first.

Two environmental disasters waiting to happen.

News from NC500.  Is it a sustainable tourism project?

Now  Venture North are banning anyone who they don’t agree with. It was the same with the Brough Bay Association. We are writing a book about that! Should be released at the end of November 2018. Also, the North Highland Initiative, Prince Charles’ initiative. They wouldn’t let us join that either as we were too outspoken.  I have today (31st October 2018) written to Prince Charles expressing my concerns.  They are protecting the funders who are doing the rocket project, and refused any money for the North Highland Way.  What a shower.  Don’t invest in Scotland if you have any qualifications or experience.

I started a newsletter some time ago, and you can see the back issues here.

I have recently rejoined the National Union of Journalists Belfast Group.

The John o Groats Journal is the local newspaper for Caithness and Sutherland.  It rarely mentions the North Highland Way.  Lots of local politicking going on up there…!  That’s one reason why I created the LetsGoNorth News Service.

On a consultancy basis, my specialist knowledge is in making community organisations sustainable and not reliant on the public purse.  I am familiar with the legal, financial and tourism development agencies in Scotland and am working with SNH, The Highland Council, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, the Forestry Commission for Scotland and the Caithness Transport Forum on the North Highland Way project.

When I lived at Dunnet Head, I was the founder of the Dunnet Head Educational Trust (2003 – 2016) which served to raise the profile of Dunnet Head as the most northerly point on the UK mainland by providing information services and event management for the Caithness and Sutherland Walking Festival (2004-2008) as community events.  As tourism traffic bypassed Caithness enroute to Orkney, I was keen to forge links across the Pentland Firth. You can see a short video of me at a Scottish National Rural Network event advocating cross Firth working.

I also created the project “LetsGoNorth meets LetsGoSouth” which look at historical and cultural links between Scotland and Spain.  In July 2018  I launched LetsGoWest and this has been integrated into my web site at
