Hi, welcome to my blog. I have travelled all over the world, and am a keen writer, so you may see some weird and wonderful topics on this blog. There are also a couple of guide books which you can download.
The raison d’ etre of this web site is not only to showcase my own writings, but to explain the ethos behind the LetsGoNorth meets LetsGoSouth project. LetsGoNorth started as a tourism association and now project manages the North Highland Way through TDM Consultancy Services. Walking, culture and history are at the heart of the project which, in 2018, extended into Northern Ireland and the Hispanic Society of Carrickfergus was formed.
I have been visiting Spain> for over 30 years, and lived there on and off. I attended the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in 1995 for a year as part of my degree. I now tutor Spanish locally in Northern Ireland and organised the Spanish Summer School on behalf of the Hispanic Society of Carrickfergus.
I lived and worked in Scotland for 15 years, running a B&B at Dunnet Head, and was very involved in tourism development. The Dunnet Head Educational Trust (2003 – 2015) was the vehicle for raising the profile of the most northerly point of the UK mainland. Monies were raised for running a tourist information point, interaction with a number of Universities, developing brochures and booklets, launching the Caithness and Sutherland Walking Festival and many other community projects.
I have written for several publications in Scotland and Spain and have a Diploma in Freelance Journalism. I also have a BSC in IT and Spanish from London South Bank University, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Environmental Economics, Policy and Risk from Heriot Watt University.
Although I am officially retired, I am available for consultancy work and tutoring Spanish outwith the U3A.
I am a keen horsewoman and have been riding horses since I was five. I like all horses, but my real interest lies in the beautiful Welsh Cobs of which I have been the proud owner of 3 pure breds and a part bred. I learned to carriage drive by the Powys Driving Club during 2010. I have been eventing, competed in showjumping and dressage competitions in Scotland and England, and have ridden in fiestas in Spain! I am now retired from the saddle and help out with the Riding for the Disabled in Northern Ireland.
Other interests are reading, walking and listening to music.
Keep up with what I am doing here!
