I have been writing freelance articles for over 20 years. My work has been published in a number of magazines and newspapers the UK and Spain. Part of my work has been as a freelance SEO writer for TopClick media and I can offer writing services for web sites to improve hit rates and page views and get your web site working for you. I recently became a member of the National Union of Journalists in Belfast and, as of the start of 2019, a member of the Irish Writers Centre in Dublin…
Guide books and leaflets
I have written a number of guide books, route planning guides for walkers, leaflets for the travel industry and have created a number of web sites – see www.northhighlandway.co.uk and www.dunnethead.co.uk.
I also edited the book “World War II Sites in Caithness” available on Lulu, and wrote “Creating the North Highland Way” and the first stage of our struggle with public services to get the North Highland Way in place. … this is ongoing. We want the only multiuse route in Scotland (under the Scottish Outdoor Access Code (SOAC) and which adheres to the principles of the EC Directive on Sustainable Tourism.
Publications I have written for:
I speak, read and write Spanish and can do translations from Spanish to English on a professional basis. Utilising my experience at Madrid University and 25 years of living and working in Spain as well as my combined honours degree in Computing and Spanish, I can provide a fast and efficient service.
I am a good planner and organiser, and have background in project planning in the financial services industry. I launched and organised the Caithness and Sutherland Walking festival in 2004 and managed the event until 2009 when a new person took over.
Other freelance work
In 2010 I oversaw the publication of a DVD giving information about Dunnet Head as part of my work for the Dunnet Head Educational Trust.
You can see my blog on Eye on Spain.
I have lots of event management experience, having organised the Caithness and Sutherland Walking Festival for 4 years, a Spanish summer school in Carrickfergus in 2018 and many other events.
I am a keen environmentalist and very concerned about the NC500 being extended out to the precious Peatlands, thereby messing up the roads and increasing the Highland Council’s road maintenance budget.
I have written for Ordnance Survey as well.
I have a Diploma in Journalism from Aberdeen College as well as a BSc in Computing and Spanish from South Bank University and a post graduate diploma in Environmental Economics, Policy and Risk from Heriot Watt University.
